As mentioned in my Hopes and Goals for 2026, I am trying to do better with reading as 2025 I was pretty rubbish at it and it’s something I enjoy and a special interest. I figured let’s start the year with a few simple challenges to help keep my love of reading alive and make it a fun year of reading.

Finish a book two weeks. This is my main goal for 2026 and what I wrote in the Hope and Goals post. It may be a mix of graphic novels as they are easy for me to read in one sitting and alot of stand alone sapphic romances as that is my go to read and the genre I love and find easy. I may also resort to audio books for alot and graphic novels as I will hit my reading goals for 2026.

A book in a genre I don’t normally read. This one is going to be a tricky one as a comfort reader and going outside of my sapphic romance genre is going to be hard but I am writing it as a challenge so I have to do it.

A book with a one worded title. This one is pretty self explanatory but I normally choose books with long titles so a one word title would be a good change.

A book by a new author I haven’t read yet. I do normally stick to authors I know as I know my brain likes them and it is easy for me to read, however it would be good to find new authors as there is so many great ones out there!

A book I had on my TBR shelf for all of 2025. Yes this does mean reading a book I bought a long time ago and actually reading it instead of letting it sit on a shelf getting dusty! (or more like currently in a box in the garage since the house move!)

A book from the year I was born. For record it does mean reading a book published in 1998, even better if it was in the July. I might have to do some research to find a book from this year. And yes this does mean I am 27 well-done if you did the maths.

A book chosen for me by my best friend. I thought this would be super interesting especially as she is not a reader (shocking that non readers exist! I know right!) and I will take her to a book shop and she will select any book she thinks I will like and that she likes the look of , and I have read it, simple and fun! In exchange of me dragging her round a book shop she then has my permission to drag me round any shop she wants whether I like that shop or not, and it’s published on the internet so it’s official.

A book chosen by any other friend or partner. I love the fun idea of the last one so I am going to also ask another friend of mine to select a book for me. The fun thing is the three friends I am thinking about asking them to do this (maybe I’ll get them all to choose a book which could be fun!) they are all readers which might be fun to see what a reader picks out for me compared to my best friend who isn’t a reader. Could just be fun all around right?

This is my reading challenges for 2026 and I will be posting blog content about the result of each these and lots of book content on the regular every Monday at 8PM GMT so make sure you hit subscribe/sign up for email subscription list below so that you never miss any of my book content or any other of my content!
